From today's edition of Democracy Now!:
For Israel and the Occupied Territories, Amnesty [International] says Israel killed more than 650 Palestinians last year, three times the number of Palestinians killed in 2005. Half of the Palestinians killed last year were unarmed civilians. The Palestinian death toll included 120 children. During the same period, Palestinian militants killed 27 Israelis – including 20 civilians and one child.
Yet despite the fact that half of the 650 Palestinians killed were unarmed civilians, that nearly one out of every five was a child, and that the Palestinian death toll was 24 times greater than the Israeli death toll, news organizations in the U.S. have focused overwhelmingly on the harm done to Israelis (as documented in recent years by If Americans Knew). I wonder why that could be? Surely it doesn't indicate an inherent bias in the U.S. media, does it?
